Juneteenth is a U.S. holiday celebrated on June 19th that marks the day in 1865 when enslaved people in Galveston, Texas were told they were free, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. It’s also known as Juneteenth National Independence Day.  It represents

  • Reflection on history, justice, and progress
  • Celebration of African American culture, heritage, and resilience
