As of October 12, 29 European countries have begun rolling out the new Entry/Exit System (EES), a digital border control system replacing passport stamps with electronic records. Over the next six months, the EES will be gradually deployed at all external border points. Non-EU travelers entering for short stays will now have their passport details, facial image, and fingerprints recorded on first entry, making future crossings faster and more secure.
This marks a major step toward modern, efficient, and safer borders, with strong privacy protections and real-time tracking to prevent overstays and identity fraud.
The system is expected to be fully operational by April 2026. #lttravelconnection #europetravel
